HPE Africa hosted its annual customer function recently – an event filled with fun, cheer and hearty fare.

HPE Africa’s 2018 customer event was the perfect forum to showcase the company’s Hyundai construction equipment and McCloskey crushing and screening products and for the HPE Africa team to enjoy relaxed time with suppliers and customers.

Comedian, Mark Banks, was the MC at this year’s event, which was well attended by customers in various industries, including mining and quarrying, civil engineering, plant hire, construction, agriculture and municipalities.

The competition for the main prizes required quick thinking and swift building skills!

The main static display at the event comprised a Hyundai R220LC-9s tracked excavator and a McCloskey R155 screener.

These versatile excavators, which are self-stabilising due to their weight, provide their own anchor support and are able to manoeuvre safely over arduous and steep terrain. The robust McCloskey R155 screener is ideally suited for demanding applications, including site reclamation, construction and demolition waste and working with difficult materials, like heavy rock, sticky clay and fines, as well as boulder clay.

A cocktail bar, serving exotic Fourelements cocktails and gin, was a popular spot. Their selection included Citrus, Rose Hibiscus and Rosemary Gin as well as Moonshine.

A highlight of the evening was a beer tasting event. Every guest received a gift of a paddle, with four types of beer, which was paired with accompanying foods. Edenvale Blond beer was enjoyed with ginger biscuits; Lemon Head was paired with cheese; Happy Swan and chilly nuts were a perfect combination and to conclude the tasting, dark chocolate was washed down well with an Old Mule Octoberfest Ale.

Guests were invited to pop into the photo-booth – stocked with various props – and enter a Facebook photograph competition. The winner, with the most LIKES, wins a weekend away for two. This competition closes on 14 December.

A performance from pixel dancers, whose choreography was enhanced by lights, formed part of the evening’s entertainment.
